This Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing a wonderful dance troupe perform at a Steppenwolf Theatre event, promoting their current play series. Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago entered the space to riotous exuberant drums, singing, shouts, and joyous dance. The performance made me grin from ear to ear; I think it's rare to see a group so clearly enjoying what they do, and that enthusiasm was absolutely infectious. It made me want to dance too!
They are going to be mounting a new production this June based on Dr. Primus' work, and it sounds fantastic. If you get the chance and you're in the Chicago area, see them perform. You won't regret it;) And, of course, see the Brother/Sister Plays at Steppenwolf; simply incredible.
