Beauty in the Everyday . . .

When I start to get down about how fast-paced and commercial and flashy the world is, I am reminded that something as simple and commercial as a toilet paper roll or a happy meal bag can truly become a work of art. Witness the work of Japanese artist Yuken Teruya.

Most people would overlook these as trash, but even the simplest object has the potential to transcend into something like this.

This is made from my favorite childhood book, "The Giving Tree". I can't think of a better tribute.

We are fast-paced and commercial, but we can find the fragile and beautiful too.

I love creative work inspired by nature. I haven't come across this artist before but love the pictures you have shared of her work. I'm going to go and find out more. Thank you for the inspiration.

Have just done my research and found out that the artist is a guy. Apologies. I made the assumption that he was a she due to the fragile nature of his work. And here's me thinking I didn't "do" stereotypes. Just goes to show. :)
