5K Finish!

The weekend was crazy, and this is only the first post about everything I did and saw over the long four days;)

First up: my first 5K! I was pretty trepidatious about it; I'm never run that far, and I had no idea if I'd be able to finish it, and how long it would take. I was majorly nervous before we started, but, when the movement trickled back to us, I was excited to get going. Within a few minutes on the road, I found myself smiling wide. It was amazing: 20,000 people running together is an incredible rush, and the energy in the group is indescribable. Three miles wasn't nearly as long as I thought it would be, and the night was simply beautiful. My final time: 50 minutes! Yay! I was shocked when I crossed the finish line in under an hour, especially because I wasn't feeling well (nerves!) and had to walk more than I wanted to. I was pretty proud of myself, the girl who had a heart condition growing up finishing a 5K run. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it was huge for me;)
