Support Marriage Equality!

Yesterday, the Gay Community suffered a setback in the fight for Marriage Equality. The California Supreme Court, in a 6-1 vote, upheld Proposition 8, which declares a narrow view of marriage and denies gay people the right to legally marry their partners. Gay Activists say they will continue their fight, hoping to get a repeal of Proposition 8 on next year's ballot; for now, the battle goes on. The only concession the Supreme Court made was that marriages before Prop 8 could be upheld, but any after that would not be legally recognized.

This morning I found this wonderful site, Credo Action, which is offering free stickers for you to show your support for Gay Marriage. This is what the site says:
Here at CREDO, we want everyone to know that we support marriage rights for all couples - you can let everyone know that you do, too with one of our awesome stickers! You can get one sticker for free. Buy 5 or 50 stickers; we'll donate the profits to fight for marriage equality. For $5 we'll send you 5 stickers; for $25 we'll send 50 stickers. Stickers are 4.5" x 6" (about the size of a postcard) and may take 3-7 weeks to arrive.

Get a free sticker, get 50 and hand them out to friends and family; hell, hand them out on the street. Get the word out, show your support, and join the fight so that one day all people truly will be treated equally, judged not by the color of their skin or who they love, but by the content of their character.

My two best friends got "married" in 2007 (quotations because, of course, they are not legally recognized). I was proud to hold their chuppah, and I hope one day they will get all the legal benefits they deserve.

Anybody who whines about California being too liberal should re: this decision.
