Bridesmaid Dresses . . .

Now that my sister has found The Dress this past weekend (that's right! She found it! She looks beautiful!), it's time for me to start thinking seriously about what I want to wear. I'm the Maid of Honor and the only bridesmaid; A. is having a Best Woman on his side, but she doesn't have to wear the same dress that I will be. Tabitha has pretty much left it up to me with the following two stipulations:

1. It must be formal-length
2. It must be purple.

That gives me a lot of lee-way, and I feel a little like a kid in a candy-store. I saw the above dress at a Bridal Show in October and fell in love, but I have yet to try it on, and it may not look as good on me as it does on the model. So, to keep my options open, there are a few other dresses I've seen that I quite like:

I like the cross-over bodice and the full mermaid skirt of this dress. I can just imagine twirling on the dance-floor and having it fan out around me;)

With all the work I've been doing on my arms and shoulders, I wouldn't mind showing them off a little in a dress like this.

This has the same feel as the Badgely Mishka dress, but in a satin, with a slightly longer waist (which is good for me!)

I love the Love Collection by Enzoani. Glam without being too pretentious.

This is one of my favorites, and it does come in eggplant.

So many choices! Which one is your favorite, dear readers? Which one do you think I should pick?

Well, since I ALWAYS have an opinion... ;)

Dress #1 (all the way at the top) looks like the kind of thing I used to wear at toga parties in college, only more fitted and 100X more expensive. Too plain and dowdy looking for my taste. Maybe it looks better in person, but the picture does nothing for it, IMO.

Dress #2 has nice detailing in the bodice, but it is quite fitted all the way down to the hips. If Tab and Ansel are serving a nice dinner, you don't want to feel like a sausage in a casing by the time you get on the dance floor just because you actually ate what they served. Just something to think about.

I can definitely see you wearing Dress #3. I wish I knew what the back looked like, but the front is dramatic, sexy yet tasteful, and looks like it would be quite comfortable to eat and dance in. It has a sort of Greek Goddess feel without the aforementioned toga look. Modern, yet Art Nouveaux. My fave of the bunch.

Dress #4 has a prettier fabric (at least in the picture) than Dress #1, but again, it reminds me of a toga. Next.

Dress #5 doesn't look very comfortable to me, but maybe that's just the model. It also doesn't look purple to me; it looks slightly magenta, which could be my monitor, but in any case, it's not a shade I would match with that gorgeous red hair of yours. It's also got that mermaid shape that reminds me of the old fashioned hobble skirts - and nobody wants to hobble on the dance floor.

Dress #6 is nice. Not too fitted, lots of shirred/gathered/whatever action happening on top. Could probably eat and dance comfortably in it. Wish I could see it in the purple. I could see you wearing this one and looking really good in it, too. My runner-up pick.

Dress 1 definitely looks better in person, but I can see what you mean. I would put a fancy brooch at the shoulder, and maybe a beaded sash. Dress 6 is becoming my favorite, for all the reasons you mentioned;)

My pick is dress #2 - I really like it - I agree it may be a bit uncomfortable but it is beautiful! Those are my thoughts!

I think dress #3 would be very flattering to you!

Arrgh! I shouldn't have even put dress 3 on there, because now I can't find it anywhere. Murphy's Law . . . .
