Shabby Inspiration . . .

I definitely went through a period where I was very anti-shabby chic. I hated the lacey, frilly, artfully weather-beaten home dec style; it was frou frou in the worst way. But, I have slowly found my way back to the style and discovered elements of it that speak to me a great deal: the vintage flavors, the pale colors, the unpretentiousness. It's creeping its way into a lot of elements of my style now, especially in my shop.

I'm starting to get ready for a possible craft show later this year, which means I'll be setting up an honest-to-goodness shop display for the first time ever. I've got a mess of mannequin heads towards that end, but I can't just stick all my pieces on mannequins and be done with it; that's visually boring. Instead, I want to display my pieces on things like bleached manzanita branches, old suitcases, and on stacks of antique books. I don't want my display to be too busy, but I do want it to be interesting and eye-catching, and to match my shop's style. I put together a little inspiration board to that end, with some ideas I'm kicking around.

What do you think, dear readers? Any suggestions?

Seamstress,

I am sure you will find the right balance sensitive to the artistic.

For awhile I wore a mix match of shabby almost vintage hippie clothing from the rummage sales and thrift stores. Somewhere along the way the kids in the coffee shop all wanted to dress like me saying what I wore they found in Savers store- yeah, cool and just like Leonard.

It has occurred to me what I would look like dressing in that Victorian era- you have careful and far ranging talent.
