Lovely Package Exchange: Package 1

I received the first of two of my packages in the Lovely Package Exchange, and it was just delightful! I was so excited when I got home and found it waiting in the downstairs foyer, and even the outside box was decorated: little bunnies and leaves on brown craft wrapping.

I brought it upstairs and opened the box, finding the first little item: a bunny button. How adorable! I untied the navy ribbon, lifted the paper, and found:

Holy crap! The motherload of cute! First was the little cream hat with navy grosgrain and buttons. That was followed by all sorts of little wrapped bundles:

Each one contained sweet little surprises: wrapped brownies, bath salts, pretty notecards, and even a book on Queen Victoria's watercolors and sketches.

Needless to say, I was tickled by my lovely package. I hope the sender likes mine as much as I liked hers!


Can't wait for the second, and I hope my swap partners get mine soon!

Package Project . . .

Just a quick post to start detailing my work on the Lovely Package Exchange. I picked up two identical little boxes, each with a *ahem* questionable paper covering on them. Not to worry; I was planning to cover them anyway! I liked the shape, reminiscent of train cases from the '40's, and the hardware was pretty good. It didn't matter to me what they looked like otherwise!

I started by spraypainting the bottom of one of the boxes; I only had a fat quarter of the fabric I wanted to cover it in, so I spraypainted it in a complimenting color, in this case, sky blue.

Then, I cut pieces and used spray mount to glue them down. What a mess! The spray mount was stinky and sticky, and it bled through the fabric! Given the choice, I would have tried something else, but it was too late to go back. I simply did my best with what I had.

The finished exterior of box #1. I don't like the glue spots showing through, but it is a major improvement over what I started with so . . . que sera sera!

Lovely Package Exchange

I just signed up for what promises to be a very fun swap: The Lovely Package Exchange of 09!
I've not done a blog swap before; I always seem to hear about them after they're over. This time, however, Lindsey over at Great Full Day posted about her participation, and I headed right over to get in on it!

Basically, the idea is this: You sign up, listing your likes, preferences, favorite Etsy shops, etc, and how many swap partners you want. The emphasis of this swap is obviously pretty packaging, but what goes inside is important too! Hair doo-dads, pretty notebooks, organic trailmix . . . whatever you want (or think your partner might want) can go inside, and the outside has to be fabulous!

I can't wait to get my partners and get to work; I love pretty paper and trimmings (I see trips to Blick and Papyrus in my future), and the best part is, I get one back as well! Signup is going on until Monday, so head over to oh, hello friend to sign up for your swap partners today!
